- The big idea that my MUMAA artwork "The Joy of the Waters” by Harriet Whitney Frishmuth would be that of freedom.
- The way I would utilize this piece in a "juicy" Tiger Artist lesson would be by opening the lesson up with posing a question to my students:
- What are somethings that make you feel trapped?
- To then push students learning further I would have them discuss the meaning of trapped
- Next we would could discuss the different types of traps there are.
- Then I would bring the students to the gallery to see "The Joy of the Waters” by Harriet Whitney Frishmuth and VTS the piece.
- From here I will send students on the endeavor of creating an artwork that shows them breaking free of their traps that we discussed earlier.
- Then hopefully through discussion, questioning, answering and instructional guidance my students would create an artwork that shows themselves breaking free and allowing a therapeutic awaking to happen in the classroom.
3. The essential questions my students could possible investigate could be:
- How does one begin to escape those traps?
- What does this trap represent or mean to me?
- What would happen if I escape?
- How does this trap look?
