Globalization


Globalization - 1.the act of globalizing,  or extending to other or all parts of the world: the globalization of manufacturing. 2.worldwide integration and development: Globablization has resulted in the loss of some individual cultural identities.


To anything there is pros and cons. The big idea of globalization in art is no different. It can be negative, positive and maybe a little in between depending on what the artist is trying to accomplish. However there is the subject of the consumer as well. CNN states “globalization and technology are forcing artists, curators and museum directors to rethink the world of American art.” So where does this leave the artist teacher?

Globalization to me is this scary yet appealing thought. The usage of technology, communication and transportation has completely reformed the way in which we view, interact, create, display, and the overall experience of the arts.  I must say that one of the things that scares me the most about this globalization of art is the process of interactions between the art process.
