So on Friday I had to leave class early, but I promise it was for and awesome cause (see pictures below). I left early to return back to my host teacher classroom to lead a hand in the kindergarden class. My host teacher knows that I am extremely intrested in working with younger students and really urged for me to attend this class to see the project that they where working on. Also the students teacher suggested that I not miss out on this opportunity, stating that the kiddies where making some of the best comments about the art classroom. I must admit I am so glad that I had the privilege of being apart of this lesson and witnessing once again the magic of ART! The students where in love with this lesson which taught them about color mixing. The class was full of laughter, smiles, ohhhhs, ahhhs, and best of all LEARNING! This is the way it should be done folks! The magic of art allowed for use to engaged these young minds in meaning making through meaningful making. With the lesson captivating the interest we where able to take that and extend upon their knowledge. We nailed vocabulary, relations to the real world and colors around us and on top of that worked on motor skills. If I was to pull out the Show-Me Standards I must said we showed them (lol). In my opinion we conquered:
GOAL 1:
1. develop questions and ideas to initiate and refine research.
5. comprehend and evaluate written, VISUAL and oral presentations and
works.
6. discover and evaluate patterns and relationships in information,
ideas and structures.
GOAL 2:
2. review and revise communications to improve accuracy and clarity
3. exchange information, questions and ideas while recognizing the
perspectives of others
GOAL 3:
1. identify problems and define their scope and elements
GOAL 4:
8. explore, prepare for and seek educational and job opportunities. ( And Yes this happen in the kindergarden class)
